Concorde Plus Group's story

Derlin is the chairman of a community bank named “Concorde Plus,” which is composed of 10 micro-entrepreneurs united in solidarity to receive Kiva loans through IMF HOPE DRC with the goal of developing their businesses.

Derlin is 42 years old and married with five children between the ages of one and 18. Four of his children attend school. Derlin runs a telephone booth and sells eggs. He started his business in 2003 with 200 USD and it has prospered since then with hard work. Derlin’s business is located in the city of Kinshasa. He has a good credit history with Hope DRCongo and has successfully repaid six loans.

Derlin is requesting a loan to purchase prepaid telephone cards and increase his inventory of eggs. He makes a weekly profit of 65 USD and wants to increase his working capital. In the future, Derlin’s ambition is to become the sole telephone card and egg provider in his area.
