A loan of $375 helped purchase composted manure to fertilize her lands.

Marlene's story

Marlene, 38, is a very kind and hard-working woman. She lives in her own house with her 2 beloved children, Joselin, 15, and Victor, 12, and she wants to give them a better quality of life. Through hard work, Marlene has managed to make her crops of lettuce, corn, spinach and potatoes the most sought after in her village. Every morning, no matter the weather, they go out to work in the fields, since they know that the income they will get from the sale of their goods depends on it. What Marlene enjoys the most about her work is cultivating her lands. She has spent 5 years doing this and thinks the most difficult part is transporting her goods to the market in Tarma. Eventually, she wants to buy more lands, in order to increase production. This is her first loan with MFP, and she hopes to be very punctual with her payments. She is a well-respected member of her communal bank, due to the responsibility she has shown. With the one thousand soles (PEN) requested, she will purchase more composted manure to fertilize her lands.
