A loan of $450 helped to buy 8 pigs, and cheeses.

Yemira's story

Yemira is a member of the "12th of August" communal bank, from the district, province and region called Puno. She is 27 years old. She lives with her partner and has a son, who depends upon her to provide for him. She completed her education to college level. She has been working with [the field partner] Movimiento Manuela Ramos for 7 years. The first loan she sought was for 3,000 Soles, which she invested in her grocery store. Now she dedicates her time to selling pigs and cheeses. She is seeking a loan of 1,200 Soles, money that she will invest in her business. She will buy 8 pigs and 70 kilos of cheeses. Her sister helps with the business and her husband has other employment. Yemira dreams of having her own house, a car to go around in, and savings for her son. What she likes about the communal bank is the solidarity, the timeliness, and being able to access a loan from the communal bank's internal account.
