Maria Grimaneza's story

María is a member of the community bank “12 de Agosto” ("August 12th") which is in the district, province, and department of Puno. She is 40 years old, is a widow, and ha one child who depends on her economically. María completed her secondary school education.

She has worked with the Manuela Ramos Movement for four months. Her initial loan was for 500 Peruvian Soles, which she will use in her business, which sells sweets, cookies, and beauty products. She will use the loan to add to her store's stock, buying cookies, oil, eggs, shampoos, detergents, etc. She runs this business on her own. Her dream is to be able to be a grocery wholesaler. What she likes most about her community back is the support of the members.
