A loan of $400 helped to purchase livestock and feed.

María Maribel's story

Maria Maribel is 29 years old, she is single and she lives together with her family in the neighborhood of La Arena. It is a rural region belonging to the Tucume district. It is a national tourist area because there are various archeological sites dating prior to the Inca civilization. It is in the province of Lambayeque, about forty five minutes from the city of Chiclayo.

She raises and sells foul. She raises her livestock in her home, feeding them grains and natural grasses. When the livestock have reached a certain level in their development she sells them to the merchants who visit the region and to the general public. The business helps her to contribute to the daily financial support of her family.

Maria wishes to expand her business with the acquisition of more livestock and balanced feed in order to increase her sales. In order to meet her goal she has requested a loan from Edpyme Alternativa (Kiva Field Partner) in the amount of 1100 nuevos soles.

She has had a previous Kiva loan through Edpyme Alternativa and its affiliate Capital Semilla. In that experience she requested a loan to support her livestock business and it is thanks to this loan that she was able to increase her profits, which resulted in the improvement in their quality of life. Maria is grateful to all of those individuals who contribute to her loan through Kiva.
