Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Victor's story

Victor is 37 years old. He lives with his wife and their son in his own house. Since he was young, he learned farming skills. Today, he farms independently as seven years have passed dedicating himself to sowing potato and other products on a larger scale. On many occassions, his wife and their children help him with this work. Additionally, he raises animals like chicken and guinea pigs that feed his family and also generate some income when sold at the local market. When Victor realized that selling his harvest was profitable, it encouraged him to intensify his work since he hoped in the future to buy machinery and hire workers. This is his loan number four with MFP. He is very happy to know that he has financial support. Additionally, he is happy to be part of his community bank because all the members are people he knows, are responsible and very unified. He is thankful to all the people who will be loaning the money he is requesting since it will be very useful in the progress of his economic activity. With the loan that he will receive, he will buy inputs for farming such as seeds and fertilizer. Additionally, he will hire workers to help him with said planting.
