A loan of $725 helped to buy fertilizers and manure.

Dionicio's story

Dionisio is 28 years old; he lives in his own home with his wife and 2 children. All of his life he has been tied to agricultural work and presently he grows potatoes, corn, peas, broad beans, and mashua (an edible tuber, which is eaten as a root vegetable) among other products. His wife is his main source of help. Dionisio also raises small animals by getting them at a less price and after some time he fattens them up and sells them at a higher price and is able to have greater earnings while he waits for the harvest of his products. All of these activities have helped him support his family and considers that selling animals is more profitable but still works as a farmer because it helps him have more revenue after having to wait for several months. This is first loan with MFP (Kiva’s field partner) even though he has been an inactive member of his group but now is happy to know that he has financial support. Dionisio is grateful to those people who will help him with his loan since it will be very helpful for him to progress in his job. With the loan, he will buy fertilizers and manure to be able to improve his corn production.
