Maritza's story

Maritza, 28, is a member of the “Las Huancheñas” communal bank located in Huancané district, Huancané province, Puno department. She is married and finished secondary school.

She has collaborated with the Manuela Ramos Movement for a year. Her initial loan was for 500 new soles that she used in her small domestic animal business.

She is now asking for a 1500 new sol loan to buy four sheep and three kilograms of wool.

As a side occupation she also manufactures enaguas (underskirts) and she also sells firewood. Her husband works as a Registrar for the municipality of Mucumayo.

Her dream is to have a textile firm.

What she likes about her communal bank are the meetings and the training sessions.
