Roberta's story

Roberta, 50, is a member of the “Las Huancheñas” communal bank in Huancané district, Huancané province, Puno department. She is married and has 5 children, one still dependent on her. She studied up to fifth grade in elementary school.

She has collaborated with the Manuela Ramos Movement for two years. Her first, 500 sol loan, was money she used in her cattle, sheep and pig raising business.

She will ask for a new, 1500 new sol, loan to buy a bullock and vegetables.

She also sells meals at the local markets and weaves articles like blankets.

Her dream is to have her own house in Juliaca.

What she likes about the communal bank is the training sessions.
