A loan of $725 helped to purchase fertilizers and insecticides.

Joel's story

Joel, 27 years of age, is a hard-working and responsible young man. He lives in his own house with his wife Jany, who is 20, and his beloved son Harold. They are the primary motivation for all of his efforts. Every day, very early in the morning, Joel goes out to work his fields. For him, there is no day of rest, as he has to work his crops continually in order for them to yield well. The main crops that he plants are cacao, coffee, and coca leaves, which he sells at wholesale in the city of San Francisco.

What he enjoys most about his work is the freedom that he has working the land. He has been carrying out this activity for 9 years, and finds the most difficult aspect of his work to be the plagues that can afflict his plants. In the future, he would like to buy additional land in order to increase his production.

This is his first loan with MFP; he has been very punctual in paying his loan installments, and hopes to do so again this time. He plans to use the two thousand Peruvian soles he is requesting to buy fertilizers and insecticides to improve his crops.
