Mr. Samat Nget Village Bank Group's story

Twenty people are members of a village bank loan group located in Pump Edth Village, in Takeo Province. Mr. Samat N. was selected by the other members to be the village bank president. Each member of the group will use their portion of the loan for a different purpose, but all hope to improve their families' living standards. Mr. Samat N. is a village chief. He is a cow middleman (a broker between farmers and wholesalers) who earns money to support his family. He is the father of two children, a farmer and a student. His wife, Mrs. Lorn Chan, is a farmer who owns a 1-hectare (2.5-acre) plot of land. She grows and sells rice to support her family. Although they try to work hard, they earn little income. So to improve their family's living conditions, Mr. Samat N. is seeking a loan to buy three piglets and pig food to start a new pig-breeding business.
