A loan of $500 helped to build a stable for dairy cattle.

Alberta's story

Alberta is 35 years old and is separated from her husband who left her for another woman. She has two children, ages 14 and 8, who are dependant on her for their livelihood. The children's father pays a total monthly child support of $58 which does not even cover the cost of school materials. So Alberta has to work hard to provide an income for her family. Alberta currently lives with her father since her mother passed away around six months ago. The loss was very hard since her mother took care of the children while she worked. She lives in a town in Chinchilla and her main activity is dairy production. She delivers fresh milk to a company that produces dairy products. Alberta also works as a security guard at the Co-op. She plans to use the loan to build a stable for her cattle so they will be protected during the rainy season. Alberta's goals for the future include growing her business until she can have a small farm of at least 20 cattle. The most important thing for her is to see her children finish their education and have a profession so they can have a better quality of life.
