A loan of $375 helped buy sacks of organic fertilizer.

Norma's story

Norma, 34, is married to Clemente, who is 38 years old. They have four children: Clemente (18), Luis (15), Kevin (8) and Ángela (6). The family lives in their own house in the town of Ricrican.

Ten years ago, this hardworking woman started farming. Her main crops are potatoes, which she tends and fertilizes constantly before selling them in the central market in the city of Tarma. The constant plagues of insects that invade the crops bother Norma, but thanks to her experience, she is managing to move ahead. Her goal is to keep having higher quality crops. Along with her crops, she takes care of 20 head of cattle, which she fattens to resell. "My goal is to help my children get ahead, and to give them a good education," she says.

This is her second loan with MFP, and as a new member of her communal bank, she is happy for the support and advice that she receives. With the loan money she will buy several sacks of organic fertilizer to spread on her potato plants, which she will harvest in a few months.
