Munafa Group's story

In the photo are members of the “Munafa” group. They are small-scale businesswomen based in Kabala, a town in northern Sierra Leone. This is the first loan these entrepreneurs are accessing from SMT/Kiva lenders. With this loan, they will be able to expand their businesses, make more profit and consequently improve their standard of living.

The leader of this group is Fatmata K.. Fatmata is thirty-five years old. She was born in Kabala town where she currently resides with her husband and five children. Her husband is a farmer and three of her children are attending primary school.

Fatmata has been selling market food for the past three years. With her share of this loan, she will buy garden eggs, margi (used to give sauce a sweet taste), onions, tomatoes, salts, etc. in large quantity to add to her business.
