A loan of $450 helped purchase construction materials (cement, iron bars, sand, etc.).

Filipe's story

Filipe M. was born in Beira, Sofala province, in central Mozambique. He lives in the Chali neighborhood, Katembe municipality, in the province of Maputo. He is married and has 10 children. The youngest children still attend school. He lives in his own home with his family and does not support anyone else. He was not able to complete his education because he was drafted into mandatory military service from 1977 through 1994.

In 1994 he left the military when he was demobilized by the United Nations troops. He currently works for a Korean organization making a monthly salary of 5.000.00mt. He also has a military pension which he uses for household expenses and to save a bit in his bank account.

This is his fourth loan with Hluvuku, in the amount of 20.000.00mt, which he will use to purchase construction materials (cement, iron bars, sand, etc.) to continue construction on his home. His previous loans were also for his home.

His personal project is to continue work on his home in order to request a loan to furnish it.
