Avenir Plus Group's story

Benz is a leader of a Community bank named “Avenir Plus”, which means “Future” in English and is composed of 11 microentrepreneurs united in solidarity to receive loans from Kiva through IMF HOPE RDC with the goal of developing their businesses. Benz, 40 years old, is the father of two children aged 4 and 7. Both attend school. He has been a micro entrepreneur since 1996. He runs a telephone booth. His business is located in eastern Kinshasa. He is working hard because his ambition is to open other telephone booths. Benz is a loyal client of the MFI HOPE RDC who has already received seven different loans and has repaid them properly. The loan he’ll obtain next will be used to buy more prepaid cards with the aim of increasing profits. Wanting to develop and diversify his business, he decided to join one of Hope’s groups in 2009. Currently, he makes a profit of about $90 per week. Benz has succeeded with good strategies to build up permanent customers. He always talks with his customers whom he knows by name, and never runs out of stock.
