A loan of $900 helped purchase fertilizer and pesticides.

Magdalena's story

Magdalena, age 34, is a kind and hardworking woman who lives in a rented house with her husband David, age 54, and her beloved daughter Aliza, age 5, both of whom are the reason for all of her efforts. Magdalena grows cacao, coffee, and coca leaves for a living. She starts caring for her crops in the early morning hours every day, knowing that the more meticulous she is with her crops, the better her harvest will be. What she likes most about her job is planting the seeds, which she does with much patience. She has been in agriculture for 10 years, and she considers the most difficult thing to be transporting her goods to the market in the city of San Francisco, where she sells her products. In time, she hopes to purchase more crop fields so that she can increase production. This is her seventh loan with MFP, and she knows that she needs to be punctual with her payments if she wants to obtain more loans in the future. In her communal bank, she is a very responsible member, which is why she is respected by her fellow group members. With the 2,500.00 PEN that she is requesting, she will purchase pesticides, and chemical and organic fertilizers for her crops.
