A loan of $900 helped to purchase clothes for women and children, creams, perfumes, cosmetics and other things.

Lorena Del Rocio's story

The members of the community bank Mujeres en Acción meet every 15 days in the city of Portoviejo - a city commonly known as Los Reales Tamarindos - which is also the capital of the Manabi province in Ecuador.

In this city lives Lorena, a 38 year old woman with two children who lives with her partner. Her children are 6 and 7 years old, and both are in school. Her husband is a mechanic.

Apart from working at home, she sells clothes of all types. Children and women's clothers sell the best. She also sells Oriflame and Sayson products, which include beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes and women's accessories. She works Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 until 4 pm, though if a client wants to purchase something all they need to do is call and she will receive them at her house where she has a display case with all her products.

This loan will be used to purchase clothes, above all those for women and children, in addition to creams and perfumes, etc. She has been a member of the community bank for 8 years, and she enjoys it as through her loans she has been able to finance her business. Her dream is to have a car and to see her business grow.
