A loan of $675 helped to buy hair dyes, peroxide developer and other products for personal treatments.

María Viviana's story

Every two weeks, the members of the 'Amor y Felicidad' (Love and Happiness) community bank meet in the Guabito sector of the city of Portoviejo, the capital of Manabí. For many years this city has been known as the City of the Royal Tamarind Trees. Here we meet 27 year-old María. She is married and has three children aged 7, 1 and 1 month. Her husband is a hairdresser. María has been a member of her community bank since the beginning and she likes it because the loans are quickly dispensed. María and her husband have a beauty salon where they provide a range of treatments for people who come to their premises. They work every day from 8.00am to 8.00pm. They have a lot of loyal customers who like them for the good work that they do. They also sell natural beauty products and in the evenings María prepares and sells hamburgers and fruit smoothies. María will invest this loan in buying hair dyes, peroxide developer and other materials which are useful in her business. Her goals are to have a large spa and her own home.
