The 'Crecer' group has 11 members. Mercedes is the group's president. She is a very hard-working woman. For a long time she has looked after her household alone. When she separated she had to find a way of making a living since she had 3 children to support. They were her inspiration to get ahead. She remembers that when she used to work as a nurse people were always offering her different products and many people bought them. So, conquering her fear, Mercedes began to do the same with her friends and family members who began to buy from her. She started selling different products according to the season. During the back-to-school season she would offer uniforms, shoes, tights, etc. Now the Christmas season is here her loan will be used to buy toys.

Mercedes has a lot of orders from her customers and, thanks to her work, she can cover her family's main expenses. She also feels good about herself because by working she has found emotional stability. In the future, she would like to adapt the garage at her house so that she can set up a book store / stationery store. This is a dream that she would like to fulfil very soon. She knows that she can achieve her goal because she has the support of her children.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
