Virgie's story

Virgie P. is from the village of New Tambo. She is 52 years old. Virgie is married and has five adult children. To make a living, Virgie owns and operates a general store, selling different kinds of goods to local community members. Virgie has been engaged in her business for over six years and earns approximately PHP1,500 a month for these activities.

In 2006, Virgie joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Virgie has successfully repaid a previous loan of PHP 3,500 from PMPC. This previous loan was used to invest in expanding the business. Virgie is requesting a new loan of PHP 4,000, which will also be used to purchase additional goods for her business. This will be the 4th loan taken out by Virgie from PMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her business.
