Josefa's story

Every two weeks the members of the 'Los Andes' community bank meet in the city of Portoviejo which has been known since colonial times as the City of the Royal Tamarind Trees.

Josefa is a founding member of the community bike and she likes it for the additional benefits which the institution provides such as, for example, life insurance. Josefa is 50 years old. She is married and has six children. Four of her children are already grown up and the two youingest are in high school and live with her. She is from Chimborazo province but she came to this city years ago.

Josefa has a stall in the center of Portoviejo where she sells fruit, above all fruit from the mountains such as: apples, grapes, pears and peaches, as well as other delicious fruit from this part of the country. She has been in this business for around 20 years. She gets her fruit from a wholesale supplier in Guayaquil.

This loan will be used to buy fruit such as: apples, grapes, pears, peaches, etc. Josefa's dream is to remain in good health so that she can continue working.
