A loan of $900 helped to buy Yanbal products, Romanel jewelry and clothes.

Giselle Marjorie's story

Every fortnight, the 'La Unión Hace La Fuerza' (Unity Is Strength) community bank meet in Rocafuerte canton. This place is known for the delicious sweet treats that its residents make. They are known throughout the country.

Here we meet Giselle. She is 38 years old, married, and has three children aged 18, 15 and 11. Her eldest child is at university and her other two children are in school.

As well as being a good housewife, Giselle sells Avon, Yanbal and Lebel products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes and ladies' accessories). She also sells clothes and Romanel jewelry. She works for six hours every morning. She makes her sales door to door and she also sells from her home where she is setting up a small store. She buys her clothes and Romanel jewelry in Chone and Guayaquil.

This loan will be used to buy Yanbal and Romanel products but especially clothes so that she can take advantage of this season which is when she sells most clothes. She has been a member of her community bank for 5 years and she likes it because the interest rates are low. Her dream is to have a big store.
