A loan of $1,000 helped purchase fabrics, sheets and bedspreads.

Renato Carlos's story

In the community of Rocafuente, the members of the community bank La Unión Hace La Fuerza (United We Stand) meet every fifteen days. This place is known for the delicious sweets that are made by the locals and are known throughout the country.

In this place we meet Renato, 22 years old, single, living with his aunt. He is in the sixth semester studying civil engineering at the Technical University of Manabi, from which he hopes to graduate and practice his profession for his own and his family's benefit.

He is a merchant, he sells sheets, mattress covers, bedspreads and pillow cases that his aunt makes. He delivers on previously placed orders. He works from Monday to Friday from 8AM to 2PM, in the afternoons and evenings he is dedicated to his studies.

This loan is for the purchase of fabric for the making of the products, sheets and bedspreads. This is the third cycle at the community bank and he likes it because of the low interest rates.
