A loan of $725 helped to buy sacks of manure and also to buy essential groceries so that she can open a store.

Felipa's story

Felipa is 55 years old. She is an enterprising and very kind woman. She lives in her own home with her husband, 58 year-old Víctor, and her 5 beloved children who she wants to offer a better quality of life.

When she was very little, Felipa's parents taught her to work the land. When she came of age, she bought her own plots of land so that she could work them herself. She currently grows cacao, coffee and coca leaf. Since she knows that these are the products which are currently selling the best in the market, she puts all her effort into producing good quality crops. What she most likes about her work is farming since she feels that it is what she best knows how to do. She has been doing this work for 35 years and considers that the most difficult part of her work is having to work every day no matter what the weather is like. In the future, she would like to buy new land so that she can increase her production.

This is Felipa's first loan with MFP. She knows that she must make her loan repayments punctually if she would like to have access to another loan in the future and she is ready to do this. She will use the 2,000 Peruvian soles she is requesting to buy more manure and fertilizers for her crops. She will also invest part of the money in opening a grocery store which she will serve in herself.
