Martha Patricia's story

Martha M. is a member of the Génesis community bank. She lives in the city of Cuenca in the parish of Chiquintad. The city is well known for the beauty of its streets and its many churches. The people are very warm and friendly.

For the last 8 months, Doña Martha has been selling different kinds of handicrafts, such as dolls, kitchen decorations, ceramic objects, etc. She sells her products around the city, but she works very little because she has kidney failure, which limits her daily activities.

Martha is 42 years old and has three children, who are 14, 12, and 9 years old. The two eldest are daughters, who are in school, while the third, a son, studies in the city. Her husband is a master gasfitter. They live in a house they built together.

She has been a member of the community bank for 12 years, and all of her previous loans have helped her in her work and housekeeping. She will use the latest loan to buy more merchandise. Her goal is to get back the oil changing business she lost because of expenses related to her illness.
