Maria Donitila's story

María, 42, is a member of the Obelisco (Obelisk) communal bank. She’s married and has four children. She plants fruit and sells alfalfa and assorted fruit in Quinua district. She has been a fruit farmer since she was a little girl; she learned from her parents.

María takes her vegetables to the Nery García Zarate Market to sell among housewives. She then buys alfalfa and assorted fruit to sell in Quinua’s market.

The loan María is asking for is to buy assorted fruit and alfalfa.

María enjoys her communal bank meetings because she can access loans and save. She learns much during the training sessions on family, health and business.
