Talapsu Group's story

In the photo are members of the “Talapsu” group. They are small-scale businesswomen based in Makeni, a city in northern Sierra Leone. They are seeking a loan of SLL 1,000,000 for each from SMT/Kiva lenders. With the help of this loan, they will be able to expand their businesses, make more profit and consequently improve their standard of living.

The leader of this group is Aminata K.. Aminata is age thirty; she was born in Makeni city where she is currently residing together with her husband and three children. Her husband is a lecturer and two of her children are attending primary and secondary schools. Aminata has been a businesswoman for more than ten years now, she sells shoes, shirts, jeans, and mobile phones. With her share of this loan, she will buy the above-mentioned items in large quantity to add to her business inventory.
