Mrs. Procura B. is from the village of Tinago, Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental. She is 45 years old. Procura is married to Antonio B. and has two school-age children. To make a living, she is presently engaged in a direct sales business particularly beauty products and also operates a mobile sound system for hire. She has been engaged in this kind of business for over 9 years and earns approximately 10,000 PHP a month for these activities.
Just this year, Procura joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. She has successfully repaid a loan of 10,000 PHP. She is now requesting a new loan of 15,000 PHP for her 2nd loan which will be used to purchase additional equipment for her sound system. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family especially for their basic needs, savings, insurance and for possible business expansion.

Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
