A loan of $375 helped turkey.

Carmen's story

Carmen is 62 years old. She is a widow and lives with her ten children in the village of Pueblo Joven Santa Rosa, in the suburbs of the city of Chiclayo. She’s been selling poultry in the Modelo Market in Chiclayo for the past 30 years. This is the city’s principle market. She also sells meat kabobs in the mornings and the evenings in the city of Lambayeque. These businesses have supported her family for all this time and she continues to do her best to get ahead. She buys the meat, both chicken and beef, from different distributors, who supply her periodically, and she offers her products at reasonable prices. Because of this, she has loyal customers. Carmen wants to buy turkey meat to add to her business and meet the customer demand that swells during the Christmas season. For this reason she has seen fit to request a loan of 1,000 PEN ($375) through Edpyme Alternativa, in order to help meet her goal. Carmen has had a previous loan that was also funded through Kiva and obtained through Edpyme Alternativa’s seed money. Her previous loan allowed her to buy more meat so that she could expand her business. Thanks to this, her customer base also increased. Carmen is happy and grateful to those who have helped her through Kiva.
