Retamitas Group's story

The “RETAMITAS” Communal Bank is initiating its 3rd loan cycle with Pro Mujer at the Santiago II Central Office. The bank is composed of 9 members. The board of directors includes a president, treasurer, and secretary. The businesses they are involved in are varied: selling leather jackets, custom-made dresses, leather items, making skirts, selling artisan crafts, meals, plus seamstress work, and making skirts.

In the case of the president, Alicia is married, has consolidated a home, and is the mother of 3 children, 2 of whom have already left home to form their own. With respect to her business, Alicia, along with her husband, operates a tailor shop. They make suits to order. Alicia learned this trade from her husband many years back. She says, in her own words: “My husband has taught me everything.” Alicia indicates that the loan will be used to buy cloth from wholesalers in the city of La Paz.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Alicia says that she likes receiving credit.
