54-year old Gertrudis is a member of the Cusi Urpi community bank. She is married and has seven children. Gertrudis earns her living buying and selling cereal grains; she is seeking a loan to buy grains at wholesale prices.
Her mother-in-law taught Gertrudis about selling cereals. She collects the grains before selling them to wholesalers who take them to Pisco. Other times she sells them at the Playa Grau market.
Since she has been a member of the bank, her business has changed. With the loans she has been able to buy more cereals, allowing her to both save money and learn how to be responsible and punctual. Gerturdis’s dream is to see her business grow.
