A loan helped purchase 16 kilos of maca seeds.

Eulalia's story

Eulalia is 34 years old and lives with José, age 37. They have four children, all of whom are minors. This family lives in their own home located in the town of San Pedro de Cajas. Eulalia is an enterprising woman who began growing “maca” (a type of root vegetable) four years ago. At first her products were sold through middlemen who travel to the city of Junín where the maca that is produced is of high quality. Two years ago, Eulalia received a proposal to sell her harvest to a processing company that makes beverages out of maca. Since then she began investing to improve the quality of her product and now generates revenue between 9,000 to 10,000 PEN per year. For this reason, she plans to open her own maca processing enterprise so that she can expand her business and earn higher profits in the short term.

This is her second loan with MFP. Eulalia hopes that she and the other members of her Communal Bank can move forward together and achieve great success. The loan she is requesting will be used to buy 16 kilos of maca seeds for planting on four hectares of farmland. Each kilo can fluctuate up to 180 PEN.
