Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Angela's story

Angela is a member of the communal bank "Las Almendras" in the Ucayali department. She is 65 years old, married and has 5 grown children.

She has been taking loans from the Manuela Ramos organization for 9 years. She has a business selling food (breakfasts and lunches) from her house.

With this loan of 1,500 Peruvian soles, she will buy 4 tables and 16 chairs, 4 tablecloths and some other items, because the furniture she has is worn out and needs to be replaced.

Angela thanks God for her health and Manuela Ramos for giving her the opportunity to continue working. She is happy, because she does not depend on anyone, and because she earns enough so that she can live in peace with her husband and their children.
