A loan of $1,000 helped for rice and sugar.

Gladys Piedad's story

Gladys, 60, has a grocery and basic need items store. She lives in a periurban area along Guayaquil’s beltway that’s surrounded by a marsh.

When she turned 50 she decided to set up a store in her home to insure her old age because she’s separated from her husband. She has her store in her house and she works from 8am until 9pm. She sells rice, sugar, beverages and canned goods in her foodstuffs store. She will use the loan to buy rice, sugar and beverages.

In the future she’d like to enlarge the store and build her house better to insure her old age and help her children with their expenses.
