A loan of $550 helped to buy two bags of pea seeds.

Lidia's story

Lidia, age 33, lives with her partner Américo, who is 35. They have 2 children: Cristopher, who is 8 years old, and a new little lady who will very soon be born, as Lidia is 9 months pregnant. They live as a family in a rented house, located in the city of Tarma. This lovely woman dedicates herself to her work of buying and selling vegetables. She rents a stall in the vegetable section of the largest market in the city, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. On these market days, when all the local people buy their food for the week, Lidia turns over 3000-4000 Soles on good days, generating a 10% profit. As a good manager of her funds, she invested in a truck with which she can move the produce from the agricultural lands into the city. As a good country woman, she also sows potatoes and peas, which she cultivates at weekends. This is her second loan with [field partner] MFP, and as an active member of her communal bank, she feels that her fellow members are reliable and active people. Because of this she is planning to invest the loan in the purchase of 2 bags of good-quality pea seeds, which she will plant over the coming months.
