A loan of $1,075 helped buying 2 bags of pea seeds and hire field workers.

Jenny's story

Jenny, age 31, is living with Wilder, age 33. Together they have 3 children: Ronald, 13; Janeth, 11; and Jaretsy, 9 months old. As a family unit, they live in their own house, located in the town of Palca. With the cheerfulness that characterizes her, Jenny reports that she feels economically secure. In these years, her economic situation has risen incredibly, as her husband works in one of the country's leading mines. But as a working woman, she wants to get ahead in the activity she knows best: agriculture. For the past 14 years, she has worked growing potatoes. Her fields produce 80 sacks of potatoes each day, which she sells at the wholesale market in her city after each harvest. But this is not her only work; she also buys honey from Oxapampa and sells it in the city of Tarma and in the capital.

She is now planning to put together some more capital so that she can sell her potato production and the honey she buys in greater quantities. This is her third loan with MFP, and as president of her communal bank, she is a highly mature and skilled woman, who is constantly supporting the other members. They are all hard-working and responsible women. She is planning to use the loan she is requesting to buy 2 bags of pea seeds and to hire field workers to help her plant peas.
