A loan of $800 helped to buy 4000 coffee plants and sacks of organic manure.

Dany's story

Dany, 18, lives with his father, Luis, 59, and his mother, Rosa, 45. He loves and cares for them in their own house located in Sanchirio (Peruvian central jungle). This enterprising young man has been farming for the last two years. On his free time when he finishes with his studies he takes care of his parents’ coffee plants. But now, just a year ago he acquired four hectares of farmland where he was finally able to plant his own coffee and banana plants. According to him, he sells bananas every two weeks at his local market but he sells the coffee crop to a cooperative in the city of Perene where coffee is amassed for processing. Dany’s wish, however, is to study the professional career of Agronomy that he hopes to use to help local farmers. This is his third loan with MFP and he is grateful for the support from his communal bank where they gave him the strength to get ahead, above all the opportunity to be an independent, working man. If he were to get the requested loan, he will use it to buy 4000 coffee plants with which to renew his coffee plantations. If there is money left over, he will use it to buy sacks of organic manure.
