A loan of $2,625 helped a member to repair a minibus and buy tires.

2 De Julio Group's story

The “2 de Julio” (2nd of July) community bank is part of the Panamericana regional office. It has nine members. (In the photo the group members are having lunch. One of the members' moms is also present - the lady in the beige shawl with coffee-colored stripes and a mustard-colored hat). The group is in its second loan cycle and its members are very happy because they didn't run into any problems during their first loan cycle. The ladies' businesses include: public transport, neighborhood store, clothing sales, sewing ladies' bags, detergent sales, crockery sales, shoe sales, clothes sales and minibus conductor.

The group's president, Marcela, is a woman who has a strong household together with her husband and two children. Her business is collecting fares on the minibus which her husband drives. She says that they work together because they have found that when she handles the fares, they make more profits. She is requesting 2,500 bolivianos which will be invested in repairing their vehicle and buying tires and other parts. They work from Monday to Sunday, from 6.30am to 9.00pm.

When we asked Marcela what she liked about Pro Mujer, she replied that she likes the repayment terms.
