A loan of $375 helped to buy five sacks of manure and a fumigator.

Yolanda's story

Yolanda, 51, is a valiant woman who was widowed 7 years ago. She has 7 children but only three still live with her in her own house located in Sanchirio del Palomar (Peruvian central jungle). With help from her children, Yolanda works hard to get ahead. Since her husband died she has had to make important decisions about the sale of her crops.

She has worked in the fields since she was 16 years old but when she formed her own family she rented agricultural fields which in time and with much effort became her own property. She grows coffee, bananas and avocados that she sells in the nation’s capital where she travels to constantly. Now she wants to gather a significant amount of money to invest in planting more than 12 hectares of farmland with which to assure her children’s future.

This is her first loan from MFP and she is starting a new phase where she will be able to get financial support and generate new income thanks to her communal bank. She hopes to get ahead.

If the requested loan is granted she plans to use it to buy 5 sacks of organic manure and if there is enough money left over she will buy a fumigator which costs around 350 new soles.
