Martine's story

Martine G. was born in 1979 in Bopa, Benin. Married to Hector Hounhovi, Martine is the mother of four children who are all in school. In addition to their children, the couple take care of another child. The family has been living in Adogléta, a neighborhood of Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin for twelve years. With the income of her business, Martine helps her husband provide the family expenses. Martine did not finish school, so to meet her needs, she sells condiment sauces (canned or fresh tomatoes, onions, peppers, spices, etc.). She also sells grains and beans. Marine stocks up at Dantokpa, Benin's international market, and sells products at her home. Martine has been in business for nine years and she has already obtained eight loans through ALIDé, all of which have been repaid. Recently, Martine was the victim of the major flooding that occurred in Benin, but that did not stop her from repaying her loans. In order to expand her business and to further increase its revenues, Martine is asking for another loan through ALIDé.
