A loan helped to buy vegetables and pay a house installment.

María Luz Aurora's story

Mrs. Luz Z. is a member of the For a Better Future Communal bank. She lives in the Paute cantonment. This camp site is known for its temperate climate where its people are flower growers, animal farmers, and agricultural farmers. Much of the population has migrated in search of better jobs to help their families.

Mrs. Luz sells fruits and vegetables and has been doing so for 25 years. She has her own stand in the camp’s market. She works from Sunday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mrs. Luz is 48 years old, has been divorced for 13 years, has 5 children who are 29, 27, 25, 24, and 22. Her first daughter lives with her partner and lives independently. Her four single daughters work and help with financial matters at home. She recently became the owner of her home a few years back and is still paying installments.

She has been a member of the communal bank for 2 years and has benefited from the loans for her business. She will use her new loan to pay for a house installment and with the money left over buy vegetables for her new business. Her goals are to finish paying her house payments, enlarge it for the family, buy a new car, and grow her business.
