The Gerem Yalla solidarity group was created April 24, 2010, when Banc Villageois was launched. The group is made up of 12 women who live in the same neighborhood. Their group was coordinated based on their kinship ties and friendships. The Gerem Yalla group is part of the Banc Villageois de Maison Familiale Rurale.

Madame Khady N., second from the right in the photo, raising her right hand, is the group leader. She is 54 years old. She is is married and the mother of 2 children, as well as being responsible for her 8 grandsons.

Madame N. sells palm oil, fabrics and hand-woven pagnes [traditional, sarong-like wraparounds]. This loan will allow her to expand her business in order to increase her profits.

Madame N. helps to provide for her family by contributing food and assuring the health of her grandsons.
