Margaritas Group's story

The Communal Bank "Margaritas" (Daisies) is in its eleventh cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Germán Busch Community Center. They are an enthusiastic group who chose the name Margarita in honor of the woman who is head of the Community Center, a respected woman whom they have appreciated a great deal since they formed their group. They also say that the center is a place where they can share and enjoy the company of their companions.

There are 11 members in the group. Their businesses are diverse: a cleaning service in a public restroom, bed spread macramé, handicrafts on bags, baby bottle sales, costume sales, flaxseed sales, sale of food, breakfast, and refreshments, handicrafts sales, and shake sales.

The president of the communal bank, Claudia, is a mother of two children. She joined the communal bank because she needed to raise money to advance her business selling breakfast, lunch, and tea at the bus stop in the Parque Ecológico (Ecological Park) in La Paz. The loan that she has requested is for Bs. 2000, which will be used to purchase sugar, fideo noodles, cooking oil, and potatoes wholesale.

In this group: Claudia, Gaby Guadalupe, Concepción Rosa, Teodora, Juana, Petrona, Beatriz, Manuela, Maritza Silveria, Viviana, Irene
