Modesta's story

This lady is from Thogo Rancho community, in Tiraque province, in Cochabamba department.

Modesta was born on February 13th 1971 in Murtuntani Tiraque. She currently lives in this community.

Modesta is an enterprising woman who is currently in the process of setting up a milk producers' organization with the help of Tiraque Council under a PDA-Tiraque inter-institutional agreement to sell her milk products to the City's school breakfast scheme. She is requesting a loan to buy a dairy cow and supplies for feeding her cattle. Her goal is to increase her family's income.

Modesta's current business activity is farming. She grows potatoes, green peas and cereals. She spends most of her time farming during the sowing season, the harvest season and the period in between these two seasons. However, she still works in her secondary business activity which is producing milk.

Modesta's home has a slate roof and mud walls and floors. Modesta is married and has 8 children who are in school. The people in Modesta's community are all from a place where people have a lot of experience in their activities and are responsible as regards their duties within the community. Modesta's husband helps her with her milk production business.
