A loan of $2,475 helped a member purchase earings.

Nueva Asunción Group's story

The Nueva Asuncion community bank is starting their third loan cycle in the Panamericana center. This community bank has eight members. They have changed the board of directors for this loan cycle and have Nelly as president, Silverio as treasurer, and [another] Nelly as secretary. The women have different businesses which include: macrame blankets, an earing business, a food business, artisan blanket sales, artisan knitting and a neighborhood store.

The secretary tells us that she has worked with Pro Mujer for a year and learned of Pro Mujer's services through advertising. The secretary's current business is selling earings which she learned twelve years ago from her husband. Currently she gets help from her brother and an assistant as salespeople. Her goal is to sell the goods in the interior of the country in the Oruro and Cochabamba departments. What she likes most about Pro Mujer is that "it teaches us to be more responsible."

In this group: Nelly, Lidia Lindaura, Silveria, Jheny, Casimira Elena, Nelly Virginia, Jenny Marcela, Reina
