They have changed the board of directors for this loan cycle and have Nelly as president, Silverio as treasurer, and [another] Nelly as secretary. The women have different businesses which include: macrame blankets, an earing business, a food business, artisan blanket sales, artisan knitting and a neighborhood store.

The secretary tells us that she has worked with Pro Mujer for a year and learned of Pro Mujer's services through advertising. The secretary's current business is selling earings which she learned twelve years ago from her husband. Currently she gets help from her brother and an assistant as salespeople. Her goal is to sell the goods in the interior of the country in the Oruro and Cochabamba departments. What she likes most about Pro Mujer is that "it teaches us to be more responsible."

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
