A loan of $725 helped buy shoes and kitchen items to meet customer demand.

Melissa's story

Melissa is 27 and is a young single mother. She lives in a relative's house with her daughter Gabriela. Melissa's business is the sale of household items and all types of other items that her clients order. Her sales are on credit, with 3 to 6 weeks to start paying for the product purchased.

It is more practical for Melissa to visit her clients at the weekend to collect payment; an additional advantage is that it encourages her customers to place a new order. The other days of the week, she goes to the shops to pick up more goods and build her stock. Melissa has been working in this manner for about 2 years. She is very passionate about her business, and knows that it is very profitable. Looking forward, she is thinking to expand her business, and later buy land to build a home and provide a better quality of life for her daughter.

This is her 16th loan with MFP, and she knows that if she pays on time, she will be able to get another with greater ease and without complications for her community group, where she is well-liked by the rest of the members. With the loan that she is requesting, she will buy shoes, pots, pans and other kitchen accessories, to meet her outstanding orders.
