A loan of $3,125 helped a member to buy drinks and meats.

Fortaleza Group's story

The Fortaleza [Fortitude] Committee, located in Capiata, was born two years ago with the guidance and support of another committee that was operating in the same place. In those more than two years of intense work they have grown socially as well as financially. They are well-known in their area as very hard working women.

One member, Saida, is a vendor of empanadas and drinks. She has a stand in a high-traffic location and she's got all the tools of the trade for preparing and cooking her meals, along with a cooler for chilling the drinks.

Saida says that the work requires self-sacrifice but it supports the family and she wants to keep with it. Currently, the price of meat, her main ingredient, is very high, and she's seeking a loan to purchase some and to buy drinks, particularly different flavored sodas.
