A loan of $725 helped to buy sacks of organic fertilizer for her more than 4 hectares of coffee plants.

Mercedes's story

Mercedes is 36 years old. She is married to Victor, who is 43 years old. Their daughter, Erika, is 17 years old. The three of them live together in their own house, which is located in the town of Sanchirio (in the central jungle of Peru).

She and her husband, Victor, have been working in agriculture for 13 years. Their main crop during this time has been coffee. Once a month she goes to the city of La Merced to sell her production to the main buyers in the region. But this isn’t Mercedes’ only business; she also has a small restaurant where she sells foods typical of the area. The excellent, well made food she has been making for the past 6 years guarantees good sales and profits. She would like eventually to expand her business.

This is her fourth loan with Microfinanzas Prisma, and she is grateful for the advice that has been provided by her communal bank because it has helped her achieve her goals. She has decided to use the loan to buy 40 sacks of organic fertilizer for her more than 4 hectares of coffee.
