A loan helped to buy toys and exercise books.

Santa Catalina's story

Santa is 50 years old. She has a small stationery store. She lives in a peri-urban area called Duran which is located on the outskirts of Guayaquil. It is known for its deteriorating ecosystem.

Santa chose to have a stationery store so that she could help her husband with the expenses of their young son since her husband works in a factory and his money isn't enough. Little by little, with hard work, she bought stationery products and increased her space so that she could provide better service to her customers. As can be seen in the photo, she also put up bars because of the crime in the area. She works from 8.00am to 6.00pm selling exercise books for $1.25, pens for $0.30 and sheets of paper for $0.04.

She would like to use her loan to buy exercise books, pens, stationery items and other articles for her stationery store. In the future, if possible, she would like to expand her premises and stock it with more merchandise.
